When people find out I’m an author, usually the first thing they say is, ‘I don’t know how you do that.’
My reply is always the same. Writing the story is the easy part.
It takes a lot to produce a book, and the hardest part is overcoming the fear of rejection. I read an article sometime ago with some wonderful advice.
‘The secret to creativity is giving yourself permission to fail.’
When a story idea first comes into my head, I don’t think about what genre it belongs in, or how I’d pitch it to a publisher. All I want to do is write…obsessively!
This means I have a lot of manuscripts on my desktop, with some pretty outlandish and complex storylines. Maybe not all of them will be published. Is that a failure? No. I loved writing every word, every line.
Writing is creating and if that creation results in a tale that doesn’t fit anywhere in the published world, I’ll still love it.
Empathy was one such story. All I had was a stray thought in my mind…what if you could feel emotions as a physical sense? Would it be wonderful? Terrible. Would you reveal your abilities to the world? or hide them?
From that stray thought, the Emotional Chains books were born.
In this case, a publisher did like it. Empathy was my ninth contract with Secret Cravings Publishing and was just as exciting as the very first. The joy of signing a book contract will never, ever go away.
So…after months of editing, the creation of a totally awesome book cover by my publishers incredible cover artist Dawne Dominique, and some very heavy duty proof reading, Emotional Chains Book 1 Empathy has been released to the big wide scary world.
The official online blog tour starts on April 6th with Bewitching Book Tours
In the meantime, To celebrate the launch, I’d like to give a copy of the e-book to a commentator.
